Ok. So if I keep the boat what size engine should I be looking at.... 50hp be ok. And then what sort of money would I be looking at (cheapest end lol) for a good used engine.

50hp will be fine, not sure about the 4.5 but the 4.8 was rated at 60hp max and mine did 33knots with a yam 50hp triple.

So. Dilemma time......

Just been offered a Yamaha 55hp engine for 450 but the problems that it's untested..... Do I risk it or not. The nearest decent sounding engine that's working is double that.

Advice would be good right ow.

Why cant it be tested? Dustbin filled with water.

Only one reason to sell an "untested" engine - co it wont pass the test...

If you were selling it and going to loose 450 for the effort of getting a big bucket of water, a wee bit of fuel and connecting it up to a battery... you'd put the effort in...
