Paul Tilley

There's no easy way of saying this, but after only a few days back home over New Year, Dad (Paul Tilley) was taken back into hospital. Dad was very poorly and passed away peacefully last night (5th Jan).

Dad had many friends from being in the inflatable boat industry so long and we will update this thread with the funeral arrangements in due course.

As I'm sure you can appreciate, that as a business, we may not be answering calls over the next week, but will be responding to emails when we can.

So sad to hear of your Dad's passing. He was without doubt one of the nicest and helpful guys to me and to many others within the boating world
My thoughts are with you and your family at this time.

That's sad news Samantha and I'm sorry for your loss and mine. I never spent a moment in Paul company that I regretted even when I was giving him money. We have lost a true ctaftsman and a good guy.

Very sad news. I worked with Paul on and off for the last 10 years on various projects and always admired his quality of workmanship. He will be greatly missed by the marine industry. RIP Paul

Oh Samantha - so sorry hear about this. I found your Dad to be a great guy and really enjoyed our conversations whilst he was refurbishing two of my Ribs. As others have commented, his workmanship was always of the very highest standard. The world is a poorer place for his passing

My deepest condolences to you and the rest of the family

This is very sad news indeed, please accept my condolences.

Your father was one of lives characters, always willing to help, and always happy to chat.

My favourite memory of him was the day I was feeling guilty enough having already blocked half the garage forecourt at the BP station by the leisure centre, having towed my Rib in and filled it up at the pump.

He parked up at another pump, realised it was me and came over for a chat, making the congestion worse, and ignoring the voice on the tannoy. “Ignore em” he said, “It would be rude of me not to say hello”.

The industry, and world in general, have lost a true gent.

Nasher.

Thank you everyone for your kind messages.

UPDATE: Funeral arrangements
Dad's funeral will be held at St. Peter's Church in Ugborough on Friday 20th January at 2:30pm. Everyone will be welcome to join us at our family home afterwards for refreshments.

The Church is in a small village, so we wish to encourage car sharing where possible. It is also possible to park at the family home, in our lane, and car share to the Church - please park tightly! Donation details

I should have also mentioned that it is family flowers only, with any donations to Devon Air Ambulance and Papworth Hospital Charity welcomed. Dad was air ambulanced after he parted company from his motorbike at Prescott Hill Climb in April 2016 and Papworth is the hospital where Dad had his double lung transplant in Aug 2014 (they've looked after him a huge amount since too).

Dear Samantha,

Really saddened by the news of Paul's passing. I'm sure it is a tough time for you and the family, but thank you for informing us.

I will always remember Paul fondly and my boat owes her new lease of life to him entirely. He built a new hypalon tube for my medline 3 and shipped it to Bombay India in 2011-12 when he was already quite ill with lung issues.

May he rest in peace, he is survived by his work in many parts of the world.

Best Regards
Shahid
