some peeps have too much time on their hands :)

This being a Polish RIB therefore blessed we will have to abstain from all sorts.

Barring of course a nice bottle of vino (Chateauneuf du Pape ???) or some holy spirits ( like a good old dynamite- yer- head -off Jameson)

Got some pink champers on ice for the launch.

Passage Planning.

Head West. Don't hit the island of Wight. Don't wanna upset the Island Tims.
Aim for Pete 7's Carbon Footprint.

Kathleen & Paul

Firstly, many thanks to Richard for allowing me to join this shindig…. And to Andre for letting me know it was happening.

Although I would prefer a wind force or so less than that forecast, it is a BIG RIB…. And why do we want a big rib? So it will be OK in F6 - F7!...... I’ll let you know!

By the way guys, (and Missus) I’ve booked us all in for dinner at the Holiday Inn at 8pm….

See you then, if not before!

Mike C

PS. The only Polish word worth knowing is PIVO (not sure on the spelling though!)

The rib was cranned off successfully, looks really smart, those engines are really really quiet.

We have just got up 5.30am here, unfortunately the wind has not backed down as predicted so we have decided to leave our departure to later, when the winds are supposed to receed. We are restricted by the access lock to the marina which does not re-open until 15.30 french time. So hopefully the wind will be in our favour and we can make for home.

Up Date

I have just got home, we are all totally worn out, will post full story tomorrow, we were boarded twice and had full customs search, plus on arrival to Littlehampton had 2 Police Helicopters, Customs Rib, 4 Police Cars the lot.

Will tell all tomorrow, The Rib performed impecably, absolute fantastic Rib, Had 4-5 plus waves with speeds of 22-48 knots across the top the whole way back.

Huge thank you to Paul & Kathleen, Andre, Mike C and Simon Everett(rib international)

Off for a hot bath now and glass of wine to chill out

Been following this one from the beginning. I'm pleased everyone made it back OK (not really in dought, by the experience of the crew), must have been an epic first Voyage for you Richard, particulaly the police escort all the way home (did customs really want you to pay VAT for all the fuel you bought to the UK ). I'll look forward to your photo's and account of how things went and to Christening the New arrival to the Dump tomorrow.

Nice one,

We assume that the skipper followed procedure by contacting the destined harbour authority prior to crossing the 3 mile limit and announced their point of arrival and ETA. and requested that customs be notified.

As we are in the European Union and there is a free movement of goods between member states there is no need to notify the Customs Authorities of such. However what I should have done and take full responsibilty for this :

I DID NOT MAKE A PASSAGE PLAN AND NOTIFY DOVER COAST GUARDS

a lesson for us should we make a similar delivery in the future
also should any of you guys decide to go to France for the weekend ect then you should log a passage plan .

Saturday 11th November

07.00 Kathleen, Paul & Myself left Port Solent and collected Andre & Simon Everett on route for Dover. Had a very pleasant trip over to Calais, where our transport to the Marina was waiting and my new Rib . The back of the lorry was very comfortable, nothing suspicious at all with 4 blokes bundleing into the back of a lorry at the Port with a 9m Rib with 550hp on the back!! .

Anyway we eventually found the entrance to the Marina, and the crane guy to lift the Rib off the trailer. Timings were very tight as we arrived it was about 4pm and the marina shut at 5pm leaving us 1 hr to get the Rib inflated, craned off and fuelled. Not bad only €40 for the use of the crane, mind you I did just after put 400 litres of fuel on board at a lovely 85p/litre not bad for a marina.

The Rib was tied up ready for our departure at 07.00hrs on Sunday Morning. I will just quickly add, Calais is a pain in the arse Marina, we were restricted by the tides and the opening of the road bridge which had a last opening at 07.17 on the Sunday then again at 15.30 in the afternoon.

Then a lovely evening followed in the hotel restaurant, ready for the trip back the next day.
