Definitely to do with verbiage, not gun cleaning. I feel the English language could do with a new word to describe lengthy posts. Perhaps along the lines of 'ribose' or 'ribiage'. As in 'that was a load of ribiage you posted'. Have to have a look in the urban dictionary.

Roy has very kindly added a link from ospreyribs.co.uk and sent me a large batch of photos too.
,
I hope to cut a good looking plaque out for Into the Red on saturday. I've already had a fair bit of interest via PM for these, and I hope this will only increase with the final product

I see you've been doing some revision of the "posting guidelines" then... ...perhaps you'd like to revise your signature accordingly

Ok, made up MKII laser plaque yesterday. Since this one is actually going to be mounted on Into the Red, I debated lo and hard about what colour to do it in, and in the end (using this pic) I decided that the red acrylic wouldn't be a very good match so I did it in black. I think the result is fantastic and much better than my first attempt. It is already lasered with bolt holes so it can just be mounted with self tappers or bolts.

What do we think?

Looks good, I'd put a bit more space between the RIB, Osprey logo and your data as its a little cluttered.

Oliver, it looks quite impressive - and nice to see that you are finding something useful to make in "CDT" (or whatever its called now) rather than yet another spice rack etc! I'd agree with Chewy though -

I know you are now "Mr Osprey Owners Assoc" but that info is too much of the space compared to the stuff you need reminding of.

I wonder if you ever actually use your callsign - I don't think i've ever heard anyone use one on VHF?

Do you have a size restriction? could you add the mayday message reminder type info on there?

Does the etched surface "soak up" dirt / grime ? Would it benefit from a clear plate in front of it to keep it clean?

Ok, I'll have a look at spreading it out a little. I thought that the important information was fairly clear though already, but I definitely take what you and Chewy are saying on board.

Thank you very much Neil, that is a genuinely fantastic idea. The RNLI stickers always peel after a year in the sun and rain, and producing it like this would work really really well I think. I honestly think that is a superb idea!!

Dunk test is on my "to do" list. There is a possibility that when wet the white sort of goes black and becomes invisible. Only thing to do then would be to engrave everything except the logo. Not sure about that though tbh.
Will definitly make up a VHF manual and a DSC emergency plaque. Could do it out of red to make it stand out

Ps. More updates coming soon for the site. Looks like we may be getting an article documenting the life of "Cosworth Mirage" quite soon
