osprey lynx

anyone know anything about osprey lynx ribs , a friend has suggested them as a very sea worthy boat, however im confused as to who actually makes em now, where they are made, what they drive like and what the quality is like..

The Osprey Lynx comes in 3 different sizes: 7.3m, 7.9m and 8.5m (http://www.bruggemarinecenter.com/en...prey/lynx.html ) . They are very sea worthy as they were build for rib racing. They are still build in the UK. The current owner is Brugge Marine Center in Belgium. you can see the whole Osprey range on there web-site www.bruggemarinecenter.com .

Don't know. One thing is for sure, it isn’t mine. I have seen it in Zeebrugge where i launch my rib. Next week there's a 2-day trip to the Nederland’s. There will be around 15 Osprey's. Hope the owner of that Lynx will be there too.

In the beginning that Lynx had 1 x 300 HP. But they had a kind of problem with a mini-tornado on a hot summer day. They could not escape that mini-tornado and it passed over there boat. 1 guy was pulled out of the rib. The rib was completely filled with water.

The owner brought back the rib to Brugge Marine and told them he needed 2 x 300 HP. So next time he will be able to escape from the mini-tornado.

The accelerations of that boat must be very very impressive .

If you like the race rib's, they are preparing a new Viper Max 7.5m, with a 225 H.O. E-Tec. They are going to do the 24 hours race of St. Petersburg. It's impressive how sharp it can turn. http://www.bruggemarinecenter.com/im...-voorbereiding

We are not sure yet if it's a Lynx 24 or a xr24 but it should be a small difference as you can see.

Yesterday they have finished the refit of the tubes. 5 days work.
Completely doubled the botomside of both tubes, all d-rings, anti-slip pieces on the back and middle and a new (dont't how you call this) bumper arround the tubes.

Took her out on three occasions before we went to work on her. She really goes like hell. Like a bullet. Didn't had the chance to take her out with some more wind.
Great boat but needs a lot of power.
In two weeks we will fit a new engine because the 175 is not enough and it's a conventional two stroke. She really, really wants you to give full throtlle all the time.
We will fit a new 225 or 250 depending on the deals that will be made next week after I come back from the Ribbex.

A new console and seats will be also fitted at the same time as the engine will be.

Some months before, Osprey wasn't my favourite brand but now I can really recomend this. She about ten years old and after this refit she will be like new. Polyester work is excelent and still very, very tough.

Buy one !

A strange thing happened to us today... we got talking to a bloke with a hull exactly the same as yours, and his is a Mirage XR24 - turns out that it started one of the most expensive lawsuits in RIB history!

Wouldn't mind finding out who owns that one with 2x 300hpdi's... would be worth a trip to Belgium for a spin!

Lets just say that it's alleged that the previous owners of Osprey might have difficulty showing the plug for their Lynx mould...

Let me add that as far as I know, this doesn't reflect negatively against any of the current Osprey mould owners, and I've only heard one side of the story!

I have meat the guy that owns it, cant remember the name but if you contact www.bruggemarinecenter.com i am shure they can take you on a spin.
