does anyone know the definitive answer to anchoring off the beech. Can't find anything recent and the buoys are obviously still there. Last i can see was the 2012/13 rya advice?

I do not know the definitive answer.

I do know that if you moor too close to the beach on a busy day then you may well attract the attention of an chap on the beach armed with a megaphone who invites you to get off his land!

In my experience as long as you moor not immediately adjacent to the beach ie off the woods then you will be fine. Or outside the buoys.

There's now new buoys in Colewell bay which looks like the local beachside restaurant have placed to control anchoring in the bay , can a business just do that? You can't miss them, massive inflatable white racing marks with no anchoring on and the restaurants logo.

i doubt it, but if they stay there long enough without being challenged it will probably become the norm - a bit like Osborne. IOW soon going to become a 'No go' area!

Went past Colwell this evening , would you not need some form of official permission to place said markers?? ( BTW theres four of the buoys in question ) 'No boats beyond this point and no mooring'

they are massive, agree with other person they look like a danger to navigation, surely they should be charted.

Charted, licensed, notice to mariners or non of the above and the restaurant have taken it upon themselves to override crown estate law.....................................who knows!

drag it out to mid chanel and leave it there or stab it and sink it. proper wrong to try and own the sea like that
