Was in the wheelhouse of a big (100') steel fishing trawler once when hit by lightning,whole wheelhouse lit up with a blueish light for about 2 seconds,no damage done,but it was a sight

Compare this with about 15 killed on the road per DAY.
My conclusion likelihood of being killed on the way to boating is about 1800 times greater than being killed by lightning, so something else NOT to worry about.
