That makes sense on a couple of levels, the most obvious being that larger metal boats have the passenger area covered. Also, on a larger boat that is struck, there is a larger chance of someone being left in a condition to summon aid.

True, but the further you are from the storm center, the further you are from danger (not saying you're safe, but diminishing odds of being hit would still be preferable.)

It does hit boats, I've seen it!

My friend and I were about 200ft away from a sailing boat at low water, bait digging. It was raining, but it didn't look as though it was going to Thunder and Lightning. Without warning the lightning hit the mast of the Yacht, before we had time to react the thunder hit us. You never saw 2 men running so fast with fork in one hand and bucket in the other. Yacht looked okay when we got back to the car and looked back. It's an experience I wouldn't want again and one I will never forget.

What about if you jump up and down to the tune of AC-DC...thunderstruck....50/50 whether you get hit or not!the higher u jump the less chance you have!

I know some one who got struck by a football in a rib does that count
