One or two whats your view

Iam sure you have been asked this before but if money was no problem what would you have one single engine or twin engines and why?
looking at getting a 5.8 rib but cannot make my mind up i know twin will cost more . iam looking at suzi 140 or suzi twin 60 not interested in top end speed done that looking at more cruising and for safety , if go with 140 than have to have a aux which then flaps about or straped on to floor or again where do you put yours

Twins if money was no problem, with twin independent tanks with the ability to switch over, the same for the batteries.

Indeed its been discussed many times so put the kettle on, use the search tool, and spend the next 3 or 4 hours reading the debate on both sides of the argument. When you do bear in mind that what seems 'essential' to someone on Harris with rescue a long way off might be overkill in the Solent with a seastart breakdown package only a call away.

Thanks chewy have spec twin tanks and twin batteries if i go down the road of twins i believe the new 60 are really good

Is money no problem. On the down side its going to cost you twice as much to service and more to run than a single larger outboard.

I love a Twins/Single Thread. It's the Redhead/Blonde argument - there's no satisfactory answer.

Small twins don't cost twice as much to service/run as a big single. They do cost more overall of course. But add in the service cost on your auxie and deduct some discount for bringing the gadge two (small) engines (this has worked for me).

It's not a cost decided issue though, and on the couple of occasions that I've had engine issues, I was glad of the other 90 sat there.

Yes i know trying to work out if it is worth it ,you would think it would be easy to spec a new boat aghhhhhhhhhhhh just want to get it right ,30k got t get it right or i will never hear the end of it from the wife lol

What size boat are you speccing etc.

30k for a 5.8m RIB must be some RIB!
For that money I would be looking larger for more capability...........

I think the question I would ask is a small RIB with twins or a slightly larger RIB with a big single.....

Did you use vaseline or tatty paste as corrision inhibitor/lube?

I like my suzi and would buy another, in saying that if you come to any scottish RIB gathering you will find for some reason the majority of us use suzis.
