Can you imagine trying to do that down here with all the States departments to notify and big brother attitude and forms to fill in etc. Just wouldn't be worth the effort. And anyway, there'd be no cheap moorings, camping on the beach, nor the same easy going attitude that Alderney manages.

The old boat (6.5 Vipermax/150 Opti) liked approx 24-26knts for optimum speed/economy. This would give pretty much 1:1. The current set-up sits more comfortably at around 28-30knts. Not sure exactly what Nm/Ltr I'm getting owing to not having the Icommands entirely nailed down.

Likewise, with my Humber i'm at more than 30kn for a 1:1 ratio in calm conditions. I'd say 32kn as a guesstimate.

Look. I don't know you. You're probably a very nice man too. But. Would it be impolite of me to state for the record that your views on fuel prices suck too?

Absolutely not. And if you care to know, our tax never exceeds 20% and although we now have an equivalent of VAT it's only 3%.

Mind you, our snow's pretty crap. Make you feel any better?

It's tough, but we've got a multifuel stove, so at least we can burn our excess banknotes to keep warm in this weather.
