Oil in my Evinrude

Can anyone advise the best oil for my new Evinrude ETEC 40hp?
....and where is the best place to buy it from (mail order is my best option as I’m not blessed with any boatstores nearby)

It depends what you computer says.

If computer option XD100 is checked use only XD100
If not you can use cheaper XD50

I had 3 ETECs (90 / G1 250 & G2 250H.O.) and would not save on oil and would use only XD100 .
The amount of oil the 40hp ETEC will consume will not ruin you .

I have been using XD100 on mine 115 HO also.
But it be waste if service not set computer to XD100 I suppose

What they all say. It all depends on what the computer in the motor was set to when the first dealer set it. If set to xd100 you can go only with that oil. If set to xd50 you can use both xd50 & zd100 but it uses it at a faster rate.
