Yes, used to drive one with twin 50's at Antigua race week a few years back.

Seemed well built, very much "blue water" type of Rib. Used a lot as tenders to big yachts in the Med and Caribbean.

Expensive I remember.

It's Nouvrania. A friend of mine runs a sailing school where they have 5.5m. It has a Honda 90 4stroke which is not set up well. It'll do 50knts,but chine walks so badly that it is dangerous. To my mind it is a glorified tender, lots of added plastic and cushions. A poncy looking thing, not a serious Rib.

I woulnd't expect any 5.5m boat to perform particularly well with that engine!

They are definitely more aimed at the leisure/med/tender market than rufty tufty dive boats, but they don't look bad to me.

Calm down Johnny Boy! Sure it's not Neuvomania!? Why should a 5.5m rib not perform well with a Honda 90 on the back? It is very widely used engine on this size of rib.

Wind your neck in. If you're going to correct people, at least make sure you're right!

Because it's too heavy (170Kg vs say 120Kg for a Yam 90 2-stroke), making it difficult to get the boat properly balanced as well as raising the centre of gravity. When you start pushing a 5.5m RIB to those sorts of speed it makes a difference.

thats Hoindas HP is measuered at the crank as well. I believe.

I bought one of these it was the old tender to a J class boat J72 I thnk it was a 4.5 with a Yammie 70, went allright but the hull wasn,t designed for a real sea, but if its cheap enough then they are OK. whats the bid at the moment

Mine seems fine, just trying new props at the moment. Came with a 13 1/4 x 15 (trying a 17 & 19). Boat is an Avon 560 with the Honda 90 4stroke. It seems very stable from my experience (limited). Top Speed so far is 35kts (3up). Rogue Wave has been on it although not at 35kts and liked the setup I remember. Mind you anyone with the name Stuart must have good taste
