Northcraft rib

Hi all
I have a just put my rib into the marina but the tubes go flat after a couple of days. When it was stored in the warehouse the tubes would lose a little bit of air but nowhere near as much as they do now.What are your thoughts on what the problem could be? Cheers Richie

Without stating the obvious .. crap tube work .. I had a seasport 5.8 from the 99 ..2000 era and it did exactly the same since it was brand new .. quite depressing really.

Touching the cold water doesnt help, but it sure defeats the purpose of a RIB. The last RIB I had was a Valiant, and by contrast, it never had a puff of air in its tubes in 2 years straight.

You could have a hunt and try to eliminate the worst ones my port aft tube was the worst on that boat,.. use soapy water and look for leaks at tube seams, valves, and around scores or marks, and you could maybe elimate the worst offenders to keep them up for longer

Thats my next step put the boat back on the trailer. Have bought new valves and will change them, just cant understand how it stays up for so long in the warehouse were it is stored

If it has pressure relief valves fitted these may be venting off on the hot sunny days we get this time of year, for you to come along & find it deflated after!
This would not happen to the same extent if under cover & out of the sun as the temp will be at a more constant level!

The leaks that occurred in the store will loose air even quicker when the pressure builds up in the sunlight.

Just thought a would update on the situation Spoke to john at Northcraft and was informed that the rib was polyurathane and not hypalon as a thought so decided on getting it retubed. Took it back to Northcraft and was really impressed with the job that has been done, have now got the job ov putting the boat back together

Took it back to John at Northcraft in hull and was just shy of £2000

that was really cheap. my new hypalon tubes on a 535 cost a little over £3000

I know when I spoke to him if I wanted orange tubes it was alot cheaper than any other colour as he does alot of work retubing FRC's so has "surplus" material.
