North East early spring trips

Ok, not a very inspiring title I will buy that, oh and optimistic after the latest icy blasts but hey!.......after a steady bimble around Ullswater over the weekend my good lady wife is smitten with the idea of some steady motoring in the very near future.

The trip in Ullswater was great as far as it goes but a quick toilet stop at the 'Inn on the Lake' around lunch-time became a costly exercise

Sooooo, any suggestions for a steady pootle with the memsahib aboard? In the summer I tend to be around the Farne Islands and I am looking for any suggestions on the East coast from Whitby (ish) up to maybe Eyemouth with nice easy launching that's open for business, weather permitting, now'ish.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

Whitby has good launching, toilets, hot showers & all the attractions that a seaside town has to offer £21 to launch & park. Take a picnic & you can run up to the various bays along the coast or down to Scarbrough for fish & chips. Talk nice to the Scarborough HM & he'll let you tie up for a couple of hours for free in the marina. If the wind has any east in it, stay home.
