No cost bailer

If you're a bit bored in the off season you can make yourself a new bailer

The added bonus being, they scrunch up and can be stuffed anywhere for storage. :-)

I have done many of these. But the best by a long way is a bailer made in the same manner out of a plastic 5 ltr fuel can.

I did this too but used a 4 pint milk bottle and cut the top off leaving the handle attached as it then collects more water for each scoop.

If you get a longish length of garden hose pipe with a weight gaffer taped on the end , fill it with water put one end in the bilge then swing the other end with the weight on around your head fast . Makes a makeshift centrifugal pump an old fisherman from our boat club used to do it to empty bilge water out of his wood fishing boat . As long as you keep the end underwater & keep spinning it around it will keep drawing water .

I didn't have the opportunity to make, let alone use, one of these when I was ten - milk still came in glass bottles,

I knew what colour an avocado was - the same colour as my parents' bath, toilet and basin!

Is it not as cheap to buy a pukka bailer as sacrifice a 5Ltr petrol can?

A milk carton is a throw away item.
