Nitromorse and Gel Coat

As per title....have some bits and pieces with badly hand brushed /applied (poss gloss!!) paint on top of gel coat....will Nitromorse or similar affect /damage the Gell if used? Any other tips on removal appreciated.....

Equally, assuming that the Gel is looking tired /filled beneath (hence why painted) I am minded to get them spryaed up by a friend with a bodyshop.....I klnow that paint will poss scratch etc, but is there a hardwaering option /paint, has anyone had success with anything specific?

Any /all help appreciated.....

Dan

Dan,

Some people have found that the standard nitromors will dissolve gel coat.

That said, they do have a fibreglass/gel coat friendly variant.

Yes. The wrong sort will dissolve the gel coat. Make sure you get the type for use on GRP - I think it says it on the tin.

Two can polyurethane paint was the hardest finish and best stuff to use in my day - International 708, later 709. Probably harder than the gel coat. I haven't studied paint specs recently though.
