Newby saying hello

Hi All,

I just discovered this this site, and am so excited! I am in the states, California, and have owned a bright yellow caribe c20 with a 90hp Honda for about 10 years. So far this site had only cost me $500 in great ideas. I look forward to spending more money on the great ideas I find here.

In a weird twist my boat is esentially new. It took 7 years to get the initial break in hours on my motor due to children and unexpected relocations so I am still outfitting it. I'm a tad bit under powered but that's not going to change, i cruise at about 20 kts with a couple divers or passengers. 30 would be nicer but i am not sure if the ride would be all that great as its not a very aggressive hull vee and the boss says no to a new honda 150. So far the only deficiency i have noticed is that I need a better way to pull a tube, the rope is too low off my transom but I see many solutions to that here.

Happy boating,
Jason

Welcome to RIBnet, dude. I feel your pain, the Witness Protection Program can be hard on a RIB, especially as they keep changing your MMSI.
I believe that 20 knots is fairly normal, i.e. you're:
Knot supposed to make new friends
Knot supposed to answer to your real name
Knot supposed to put down roots
...etc.

However, you should enjoy RIBnet as a lot of us are running too. In my case, from most of the rest of RIBnet (esp. Biff)

Enjoy

Welcome and look forward to posts from the other side of the "pond".

Was tickled by the thought of an American having an under-powered boat. I did not think such a thing existed ...

Hi, Jason;

John from Oakland here. Just blew through your town a couple of times last weekend heading out to the southern Channel Islands and Cortez Bank on the Peace out of Ventura. (Pics weren't anything to write home about for the most part, but are online here. The pics from this pic are currently at the bottom of the respective galleries.) Ate lunch going south and dinner heading north at the BBQ place in Pismo (Alex?) Pretty good stuff.

Anyway, welcome to the forum; look forward to hearing about your boat getting some use.
