Newbie on West Coast of scotland

Hi troops!

Have my 1st RIB - older but fab fun Avon SR4.0 with a 30hp Mariner (both about 20 yrs old but in fairly good, honest condition). Just got my 1st useable road trailer (excellent buy - quality roller coaster, wide wheels etc for £715 new! Supplier details available if you're interested). Currently used on Sound of Jura at holiday home but live in Paisley so looking for ideas for RIB fun closer to home.

Any ideas? Any RIB gangs to join?

Well I could safely say your in the right place and welcome, you just missed a big clyde cruise, but no doubt we'll do more

Jura isn't far from part of the world and there are a couple of others in the area. if you are going out just holler or watch the upcoming cruise thread.

Thanx for the warm welcome - must say I love my RIB, more fun than a box of frogs.
Had heard about the Clyde cruise from a friend who works with someone whose partner has a RIB etc etc but didn't have a road trailer at the time. Boat kept at hol home at moment but looking for storage nearer to home (any ideas?) so I can use it more often.

Meant to ask - when does the RIB "season" usually end each year? Or doesn't it?!

I don't know about anyone else but I don't stop for the winter at all, just wait for calm dry weather.
Had some really good days out in Jan/Feb when it was nice and bright and sunny.

Yes I have had some excellent days in winter. Cruising loch lomond without seeing another living sole is an experience in itself. Having to put sea water and sand on the slipway at loch linnhe to launch in Feb so the ice would melt was interesting - but the sea was flat calm!

31st Dec until the 2nd of January

Good to see a new member from west coast. Hope you have a great time with your new boat and see you out on the water.

Were out next Sat (27th Sept) for a blast, probably Holy Loch > Largs > Kyles > Tarbert then back to see the Fireworks at Millport in the eve.

Is the firework show any good? Worth coming to see?
The MIL lives on the island and we may come down if it looks like being any good.

Bruce, We used to do this trip as our end of season trip before our last boat came off the water, also used to do it on the Waverly as kids.

The fireworks are not bad and there is usually a good atmosphere in Millport - and the kids love the 'joke shop' ( hope they have grown out of that for this year as it cost us a fortune lol )

This year we plan to make a day of it leaving from Holy loch then up the Kyles, Tarbert Millport then back to the Holy Loch

Usually a lot of boats come and anchor up in the bay to watch its also a good reason to get some night nav in.

Will post some details up on the cruise section would be good to have some company

I tried a few weeks ago .....but could figure out how to get around the the back...all fenced off ....will phone next time.
