they are obviously getting paid too much and have no idea of real value.
Someone earlier said about the arms being made from marine grade alluminium ? well thats not too expensive anyway.
Making them from steel would be no good as for weight etc, and the cost wouldnt be that much different.

Anyone wanting to make their own should check out the bases on some old office chairs
then cut down to size and fit their own seat tops.

But £750 ha ha ha what if you need 6 seats
