New transom.

Is there any one on here that could replace the transom on my sr4. It's not going to last much longer. I dont mind traveling but not too far from Sheffield, dont really want to be going down to the south coast. Something like a couple of hours from Sheffield would be ok. cheers.....

You could try one of the refurb gurus, Biffer, Nugent? they'd probably do it in their dinner hour.

wash your mouth out with soapy water HP, it's his pride n joy, of course it's worth replacing! you could say exactly the same for any refurb, I could have bought a new rib for what I've just spent on a old SR4 hull, but sometimes the pleasure at the end result far outweighs the actual costs

like PD said, there's the likes of Ed that may take it on as well, but it didn't mention Ed as he's a bit further away and by the sound of it he's got enough to do with his latest project, n Biffer is even further away

Yes I think it's worth replacing, as Chris says it's my pride and joy. I cant justify spending £1k on another s/h rib, whos to say its not got a honeycomb transom ? Better the devil you know. And there is no way I could buy a quality rib for that money although I do realise £1k is just a ball park figure. Besides the tubes do not deflate over the years plus the valves have been sunk flush with the tubes and I have had extra rubbing protection put on the tubes.
When we used it for scuba. Dont use it for scuba any more, it's just a family fun boat.

I'm guessing this may be a over winter project, so if I was you I'd give Ed (Nugent on here) a pm and ask him if he'd take it on for you, or give Mike Whitham a call, but just depends how much either of them have got on work wise, and how much preparation you're willing to do yourself may also help them and reduce the cost to you, such as taking the engine off etc, but either way you've nowt to lose by asking, both great fellas and will no doubt give you plenty of sound advice if nowt else, let me know if you want any contact details

If it's needed quickly I would ask mike,, not to far from your neck of the woods , quality work and done at sensible price, by a highly skilled individual qualified boat builder,

Result A bit more travelling involved, but I'm sure it will be well worth it in the long run.
