New to the Ribnet Forum

Hi, just purchased a Ribtec 655 and planning to use her between Littlehampton and the Solent, my son and I are very keen to join the fleet in June round the island in support of the BIG C, any support given against this is worth every penny in my books, looking forward to meeting some new friends.

Nice boat. I've done a lot of miles in a 655, a well mannered easy to predict and handle hull.

Double nice setup just seen you've a 150 HPDI, I'm a big fan of the optimax / HPDI technology. "My" 655 (it isn't mine but I've probably driven it more miles than anyone else) is good with a 140 Suzuki and the extra 10 ponies and grunt of a 2-smoke would certainly make for an except all round rib in my book.

That's good news, just reading an old forum message and someone was dogging off the 655, got a bit worried, but hearing what you have to say brings a joy back to my head...lol
I'm very interested in long range cruising and hoping "Great Bear" will take this with some ease !!

Well I did brightlingsea > rye > Cherbourg > Alderney and back again in a week in that boat, then the next year Weymouth>Brighton(overnight)>Ramsgate in 2 days in not insignificant conditions - it loved it (so did suzie and I, that was a cracking trip)...
Oh and 2012 I think it was ended up in newhaven as had been acting as safety cover for some sailing and did newhaven back to ramsgate solo in a day. An equally exhilarating trip. I remember that trip and it was so rough I had to tie myself to the boat as I frightened myself off Brighton nearly falling out. Bought a PLB after that trip.

Anyone who tells you that's not a capable boat point them my way. Sure there are better, but there are a LOT worse.

Get out and enjoy it. Join a ribnet cruise, you'll learn a lot and meet some good guys and gals too.

I've used a 655 as well with a Yamaha 150 on it (owned by a Ribnet member and now owned by another Ribnet member) and it handled really well.

Thank you for the good feed back, have been boating for 30 years, sailing offshore cruisers, but time for some small fun and much less running costs..

I don't know about that but I caught a couple dogging off the back of a MkII Escort the other night up at Sorel Point.

Nice boat. That looks like Itchenor in your avatar?

I'll slink away and hide if you or Oli are going to whizz past me!

Cheers
Hugh
(From LA or, as my wife calls it "Rustington borders")

PS. Isn't it about time Bognor got itself a proper slip?
