forgot to say, i will need to probably move the seats back, it looks like it was built for a dwarf to drive judging by the pictures.

i have never done this before but i'll need to have a go i would think.

Nice boat. before shifting the seats around, you might want to tidy up around the transom. Hoses, cables etc. Looks like a classic RC rigging job

yeah, it isn't the cleanest for such an expensive rib but i'll take care of that.

just need to wait a while on delivery now....who invented the christmas holidays!!!! :-)

I bought a length of proper rigging hose & a pair of deck glands. Disconnected everything from both engines, including the steering hoses. Ran all the cables/hoses/looms in the rigging hose & pulled all the slack back into the console. I also moved the primer bulbs into the console from the transom.

i will add it to my list of to-do's on it.

i want to try buying a flat steering wheel, that should give me enough space to be comfortable in the seat, can't find one yet but i'll keep looking.

Also need a keel guard, why anyone would spend this on a rib and not have one is beyond me TBH.

Fit aux engine transom saver.

Tidy wires up etc.

I can't wait to take this thing out, i have never been on any other rib than my own adventure.

I'd try the steering position first, you might be surprised. You could always fit a tilting helm, which would be easier than moving the seats.
I'm having a keel guard on the new boat, but TBH I've never scuffed the keel on any boat I've had, it's usually around the transom invert that chips occur.

unfortunately i am buying this unseen, so a lot i don't know.

Nice RIBcraft Xk59D. At 6.8m you're not going to be manoeuvring by hand unless it's on the flat, and even then it's a hard job.

Never had a 4 wheel trailer, but like anything else, keep on top of the maintenance and enjoy!

by luck i got to try a 585 today for space and it is not comfortable to sit in with the way it has been built. it is brilliant for standing and i guess built with that in mind but i'll recline the back rests slightly i think and i'll get the seastar helm adapter to put most of the helm inside the console.

The one i was on today you couldn't even get your leg between the seat and steering wheel to slide in/out.

The good news for me is it looks like mine will have more room anyway so perhaps they put the consoles slightly further back on the bigger boats.

give me loads of room to sit down for long jaunts i normally go.

Which is exactly why I have got a single axle trailer under my 6.5m. With my rig I can quite happily move it by hand on the flat, and with effort even on a slight slope. Just as well, as where it lives is on a slight slope, and I have to finish the parking job by hand as there is no room to get the car in

new rib arrived today :-)

kudos to Barry from JBT marine for braving the shocking weather to keep the promise of a friday delivery to suit my day off. was gusting 80mph last night here and was about 40mph when the boat arrived.

Also a shout out for Jermey at JBT too, superb people to deal with on the whole.

When the boat arrived it was pretty obvious the trailer needed setup properly, it wasn't too bad but it needed adjusting. my dad is a retired marine engineer and although he says he doesn't miss it, i think he does, he can't get enough of ribs :-). he had the tools out and under the trailer loosening the axle before i had got my heated seat off!...thanks dad.

ended up moving the axle forward about 15" and moved the rear rollers back so the transom was properly supported. Result is 65kg nose weight without my anchors in the locker, spot on.

this is my first proper look at a ribcraft and the quality really is something else. you can see where the money is compared to the avon i just sold, a diff class of boat granted.

will really miss the little avon, someone is going to end up with a cracking unit there.

it doesn't look like it has NMEA setup so that will be next on the mod list to get engine data in the nav units.

First thing though is a duck cover from ebay to keep it clean in the shed :-)

good trailer too, we've got the same but an older version, just in the middle of a refurb!
