New RIB owner

Hello, I have just become a proud owner of my first RIB. OK well a Ceasar Thundercat which I know is not stated really as a RIB, having said this, she handles fantastic, so thought i should join on here.

I bought her from Tom Montgomery-Swan, who sold me a number of different boats in Guernsey.To prove to be that she could be used for different things, he brought her across by sea from Weymouth!! A mixure of the boats fantastic sea-worthyness and also Toms service helped me make my mind up.(often taken me out on Sundays for demo's, when I know it wasnt often the best time for him, meeting for lunch and explaining what was best) Highly suggest anyone who needs help in boating advice go to Tom, lovely guy and gives honest good help.

Regards the boat, she is a couple of years old, Red and very fast, Tom showed me how to drive her in the condoor's wake, WOW. She just flies, no jet ski is like that. Its been all set-up for myself and is really easy to drive.
Love Ceasar's build quality, I had fitted some extra padding and now is great.

All in all, boat is great and lots of fun, even the wife has given the nod. Thanks to Tom and the bank manager for showing a blind eye.

If any one else has any tips on these boats let me know.

Back to the subject of thundercats.

I went on a sea trial (in this case river trial) on a Sovereign thundercat yesterday and my god was it quick. It had the usual 50hp on the back.

I sat in the front of the thundercat with the broker steering, his advice to me as it was very windy was to stay forward when going into wind and get as much weight to the rear when we were running with the wind.

Also said you may want to put your feet in the foot straps and hold on tight.

Off we went, i thought the accelleration of my last rib was quick (7.5m tornado with twin 130s), this totally blew that away. The G's going round the corners was also phenominal.

Really considering buying one now and having heard people blasting around Guernsey etc, i am sure i could have fun here in Perth.

The only way i can really describe a Thundercat is like it is on rails, you move the tiller and you change direction.

Congrats with your purchase, i may be following suit.

Bored at work so though i would explain why these things are so quick and stable which i found out this weekend.

The boats itself weighs approx 80-85 kg
A 50hp engine weighs approx 80-85 kg.

Therefore you have 50hp pushing 170kg along the water plus crew members.

Also the tunnel of the cat gives the thing lift so that only the prop is really in the water.

They are also about a wide as they are long so are very difficult to capsize

Yes I was over-but not in the Ribeye 1050 which some people wanted me to take over. I had gone by Condoor as one of my previous customers Bill Thompson had an unexpected problem with his set up and at the same time brought back a boat to the UK on my return.

Craig is a long standing customer who we proudly have looked after for all his Ribbing needs. We have become good friends and to save me paying to stay somewhere he lets me stay at his. Is there anything wrong with this. Have a good day.

I will say one thing, and one thing only. Why would I be leaving messages to develope intrest in my thundercat sales by putting it on with another login name when Im not selling anything but Ribeye or Ribtecs at the moment. If anything came of Craig listing some nice comments, I would only be able to forward their details on to a manufacter, so it would be no use to me as Im developing Ribtec at this time. I have other projects to deal with now then actually selling in Guernsey. Although I do still look after old customers. So by posting anything else to create more business would be invain as I am not selling at this time, other than Ribeye or Ribtec. So I can safely say I would not waist time doing this, no need to me and wouldnt gain anything im afriad. Also when you see a red thundercat in guernsey over the next couple of months and throughout next summer, you will not find myself on it, rather you will find my previous customers. It would be upto them how they felt about my service provided. But any more business brought on from it, personally I would only forward details on or point them in the right direction. For me I have other things I have to be pointing my focus on.

Will be getting a trade account shortly.
