New engine for my Ribcraft 540... which shank?

Hello,
i'm new on this forum, i the owner of a ribcraft 5.40, i'm considering of changing engine, but i wonder which kind of shank should i choose?
Is it a "long" or "ultra long" shank i 've to choose as a single engine?

by the way, i would like to buy a 90 Yamaha 2 stroke, would it be a great choice? does any member know the consommation of this engine on a ribcraft 5.40.
thank you for your help,
Eric " le petit nouveau".

Hi Eric,and welcome to Ribnet!
90 Yam would be fine...but better.. an E-Tec 130! It goes VERY well with that Hull! (Long shaft)... Ask 'Hadd'..Or see his video's. It's a '545' By the way,Great boat VERY Deep V, extremely dry Ride and great in the rough...and IMHO nothing to touch it for the size.

Measure the transom at the centre. If it's 20"-21" (51-53cm on the new scale) then you need Longshaft, as suggested by Maximus.

No, 54cm will work fine with a longshaft.

They should Know!!.. Although they don'nt fit many E-Tec's..And I appologise if I got it wrong (and it was an extra-long shaft I had).I'll ring Race Marine in the morning and check for sure

no, may be they didn't understand my question correctly, or may be i didn't understand...
so , for sure, a long shat fit a ribcraft 5.40 .
is there any member who has a 90 HP, 2 stroke on this boat (execpt E-TEC, i can't afford this great engine), if so, what is the consumption with this boat?

An XL motor fits a transom of 25" (635mm) minimum.

a 90 yam would be pretty gutless on a 545, its a very deep hull and heavily laid up boat so 115 minimum really. Maximus's 545 was mental with the 130 but with a yam 90 expect 30 knots and slow to take off

I've read that with a 75HP, 2 stroke, a 5.40 at full throttle reaches a 32 kn, considering this a 130HP, should take it to the moon.
i guess 75 or 90 HP is enough for some kind of use.
