Funny I've heard that too. I've currently 3 bottles of this so called TFR, bottled up neatly into another brand, next time I'm going direct too! I paid £25 odd for 5ltr but can now buy 25ltr for the same price

I think that I was thinking what you are thinking...

I don't, but my guess is that it's just industrial detergent, lots of water, colour and a whiff of sodium hydroxide. It's truly unpleasant stuff. Cleans RIBs though.

Yes and no. If you look at the MSDS's then most list it as something like:

<1% Sodium Hydroxide
~15% of mixed surfactants

If you hunt around you will find a more detailed breakdown of the actual surfactants used (I have no idea if all brands of TFR use the same mix). They are quite an unusual mixture of things - so not as simple as a dash of fairy liquid and some caustic soda - although that migh well work!

Its not so expensive to make it worth mixing your own though, is it?

Not mixing our own, but a few industrial suppliers sell several different brands and mixes so looking for a proven mixture makes sense does it not? I seen advertised TFR when I was picking up THF to remove latex but would like to know what was in it before risking my tubes.

I have tried to Ribshop kit with no success so they dont always work - from the reports of others experiances it seems I was unlucky. £40+ and it did not work at all, my red tubes are stained and the fluid made no differnce that I could see despite a lot of scrubbing. Not knocking the Ribshop one just sharing my experience with it.
