Need Advice....Buying 1992 Avon 5.5 Sea Rider

I have the chance to purchase a used 1992 avon sea rider 5.5 4 seater with a 90hp yamaha for $1400(usd). There is one patch on the rear starboard tube that needs repatched due to age. The hull is in great shape and the motor runs good. The boat could use some minor TLC but overall it looks good.

This is my first RIB pruchase and I was wondering if there is anything else I should be looking at prior to purchasing. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Also, my plans would be to turn it into a center console instead of its current setup. Is this an easy conversion?

Thanks again

Kevin

The Yam 90 is a superb engine for an Avon 5.4m. Snap his hand off for that price. Avon make good solid boats that last all be it very expensive when new.

Like Pete says, at that price, assuming the engine is alright (or you can fix it if not), and assuming the boats not in a real bad state, go for it.

should be easy ish to turn into a centre console assuming it is currently the ski boat type. Just take off the dash, buy or make the centre console and fit it. You can leave the bow dodger on or remove it. Very common operation on the 4m over here, I think we don't have so many of the ski boat setup around.

I know Chewy is doing the exact same thing to a 4m Searider right now. Could be good to talk to him.
There's a few lads on here that have done this conversion.
