Narwhal Ribs

Thoughts about Narwhal Ribs ? especially this one , that I am tempted into buying halves into with a mate ( more so he has a boat to use when I use mine ) .

Rib Narwhal 4.1m 30HP Fishing/Speed Boat | eBay

I know a 30 wont make it scream along , but I think still good for 25knts .

I recall the local sea cadets have 2 of them which seem to do them OK .

I am pretty sure PVC so the ' slight fading' could be they are on the way out .

Engine I am confident about as its a Yam.....

Absolutely awful boat, rubbish design, terrible rigging and those rod holders

Under no circumstances should you bid on it, not even a little bit Cos I'm already bidding on it

Aren't they the same as Valiants? Seem to remember a story about the two founders of Valiant falling out and one went off to make his own, the Narwells I've seen have an identical hull.

Hahaha- its also on Gumtree..... I probably wont bid(against you) , but I will PM you ....

and yes they do seem to share a lot in design and look build with Valiant. Seem to have decent deep V for a small boat too.

The tubes on this one are my only concern...but for little money worth a go ....

inspect the tubes and seams very carefully . any obviouse glue repairs or patches laeve it well alone especially at the rear underside of the tubes .

My daughter and her boyfriend bought one of these last year from a very dishonest member of this site and the seams literally fell apart after a few days use .The pvc ,maybe due to age , is almost impossible to repair . I think the uv effects it and the seams were glued rather than welded
The hull is ok and seems to be an almost standard mould / design used for these small ribs

Narwhal RIBs

I would second Ian's views. We had a 5.2m 5 years ago and it fell to bits, tube seams failed countless times on both sides (where they cone off at the stern.)

Our A frame also become very loose fairly suddenly on a pretty sedate trip out. Personally....I wouldn't buy another.
