Sod that "nature" reserve!
I used to cycle to work through that swampy dump, all i used to see were mosquitos, nats and the odd seagull!
Plus lots of men dressed in camo gear with cameras the size of a small cannon! (i guess large lenses are required when photographing mosquitos at 100 yards!)

I used to get cursed at by them, as "my cycling on a footpath was destroying the nature reserve"! (It was either through the nature reserve or along the 4 lane A27)

Flatten it, build a nice big (cheap) marina with a giant RIB shop and a petrol station offering half price petrol to RIBs.

Thats better.

Neither did I until I couldn't brake quickly enough in the tug the other day and overshot my normal stopping point and there it was at the end of the wharf!

Bedhampton Yard

Hi Nasher,

If memory serves me correctly, the yard is part of Bedahmpton fishing club?

I belive it is also used as a small trading area for making concrete garden ornaments.

If you have time give me a call on 07761 864043.

Cheers

Doesn't look like there's much water up there for a tug Stuart

Do you help them out with a bit of prop dredging?

I had the skeg of our tug (at the back) on the bottom of the dock the week before last whilst trying to get attached to a lock gate to tow it into the dry dock. Thankfully the propulsion (voith) is at the bow so it didn't suck anything through - most odd feeling though, one min we were drifting slowly backwards, and the next we weren't.... it helped a bit, cos it stopped us nicely to give plenty of time to get sorted

I see the Chiefton is coming along nicely now - like the finished paint job. Have you been out on her yet?

no it's certainly not a low tide kinda location.

I am not with Jon's tugs at the moment I am back on Storebror which does silt runs. I am very impressed with the way Jon does look after his fleet and I am sure Chieftan will be very tasty when it is finished. Talking of tasty tugs I saw Goliath the other day

Was Goliath towing a jack up barge per chance? - the last pics I saw of her, she had a jackup barge behind her.

Just found a pic of Storebror now, is that a little inflatable hull Avon I see next to her funnel there?!

I've been seconded to the engine room the last couple of times we've done jobs on our tug in the last week - our main engineer has been on night shifts recently which affects us a bit when it comes to operating it.... unfortunately, there's not a lot of automated stuff down below. It is nice though to sit on the oil reservoir with the engine ticking over in the background

So join, I am sure it's easier to get into than some boating oirganisations! then you'll have somewhere to launch your bote.
