My Zodiac Pro is missing - any help appreciated.

Hi, last night my grey Zodiac Pro 4.2m has gone from Dittisham (Dartmouth) pontoon. She's called Puffin but the P's gone so she's Uffin - she also has "TT NEW ROSE" on her console. She has white bench seat, console and steering wheel. Have told DHNA and am looking everywhere on river Dart but just to ask if you hear of anything eg boat or engine for sale ( brand new Honda BF40 ) pls keep an ear open , Cheers.

Zodiac FOUND!

Just to update, we found my Zodiac; last night someone must have cast her adrift from the public pontoon she was on, and another boater found her drifting up river and kindly secured her and advised the Harbour Authority.

While I'm here - anyone know how to edit an existing post? I see no option on my posts.

Glad you got it back. Whoever untied it needs a slap.

Regards editing posts. You can edit posts once you've submitted them, not sure how long for, I'd have thought 30 minutes tops.

Glad you've got the boat back, and with no damage.

Trouble is with the Dittisham pontoon that so many people tie up on it that often they undo lines to get to their boat, and may not be competent - or sober - enough to resecure them. Could also have beensome malicious idiot.

Can sort of understand why so many secure with padlock and wire - just wish they'd use more than 6" of wire to allow other boats onto the pontoons

There was a small sailing boat from there went missing a week ago and found up the river. Wonder if someone is up to something

Yes.. it's party season at Ditsum so am assuming the drunk / untying scenario is applicable, especially as, the following night, watching some rib owners leave the pontoon and dash down the river in darkness at 15-20 knots ( speed limit 6 knots ) with their families aboard was quite disturbing.

Am thinking I'll use a padlock at these party times - have always thought it excessive but now see the point.

Agree though that should be a long cable... a short one would be just as annoying - or more - as the problem of short lines cleated on pontoon cleats instead of long lines with a bowline or round turn/ 2 half hitches that allow lots of bots to share one clear and come and go easily...

Such a basic boat skill (RYA 1?) that it's scary that so many boaters / rib owners don't seem to be aware.
