Vinyl lettering works fine on hypalon. However, you must clean the area well with toluene and then overcoat them with whatever you use as tube polish/prectorant. Had to carfully scrape of my old ones with a razor blade.

The problem I had with vinyl lettering (the stuff you get a Worst Marine; not some bulletproof commercial stuff) was that it didn't stretch and retract like hypalon, so it either buckled and wrinkled, or tore.
