My new zodiac futura

Hi all my first time ever on a forum.

I have just bought myself a zodiac futura 4.2 metre with a 35hp Johnson. When I picked it up the owner had detached the motor and said he never tow's with it attached. My last boat was a quicksilver with a 25hp mercury and never took the motor off. The Johnson is a lot heavier and I go diving for crayfish and can drive up to 4 hours away each way.

Is it safe to drive that long with the motor attached?

The other thing the zodiac has a air floor where my quicksilver had a hard floor. My initial thoughts was I don't like the idea of a air floor.

Are the air floors sturdy enough for dive/fishing gear?

Also the zodiac is a 97 model but is in immaculate condition. The owner brought it over to Australia from the uk 8 years ago and hasn't used it at all since being here.

Should I be worried about the age,glue and seems etc?

Taking it out for its first spin on the weekend.

Cheers

Probably better in the SIB forum, but:

Probably OK to trailer with the motor mopunted, but I'd firm things up with a transom saver (though others will argue their usefulness, I'm sure.) Keeps the motor from penduluming while motoring down the highway. Some method of keeping it swinging lock to lock would be good as well.

I wouldn't worry about seams as long as you don't notice problems (peeling fabric, air leaks, etc.)

No clue on air vs wood floors; my SIB had aluminum. I'd guess that some form of protection (carpeting or the like) would mitigiate most of the damage dive gear would do.

Luck;

jky
