mounting handheld VHF to bouyancy aid

Any recommendation on how to mount handheld VHF to bouyancy aid?

I wear a foam vest type not an inflatable type and cant find one with a pocket suitable for VHF and don't want to trust the belt clip....
https://www.wetsuitoutlet.co.uk/2017...0-p-11170.html

Ideally i would like to mount it near my right shoulder? so i can use it without unclipping or removing it.thinking of modifying the flare pocket? or some thick rubber bands?

Yes the pouch was fine but that may go in the spares drawer since I upgraded my buoyancy aid to a gadget boy pocketed type!

See this thread... http://www.rib.net/forum/f50/100n-li...pfd-75045.html and post #31 at the end. This Palm buoyancy aid gives you the option of using the radio clipped onto the little strap up near the neck... or if you prefer to have the radio in the pocket with just the aerial sticking out.

The Palm may seem expensive at £50 more than the one you linked HDAV but I've had my previous one 10yrs so peanuts really given how they could help you out of a sticky situation.

Having pockets is life changing. My previous buoyancy aid had none and it covered the pockets on my jacket so if anyone handed me something like a key or I needed to access money etc it was a right pain... but a doddle now.

My SH VHF has a spring clip which I clip to the LJ chest strap but would not trust this 100% ITSHTF so double this up with a Paracord loop to carabiner that clips to the carabiner on the same chest strap.

Well my old one has given up, well actually I ruined it and had had it probably nearly 15 year.....

Where did you get the case for the radio? That's sort of what I was hoping to get and strap to the shoulder

just google or eBay MSC20B radio pouch you get shoulder straps too so you could wear it remote from your jacket if needed

Same set up as me without the carabiner.

When you look they give dimensions I just measured up and it was fine it also has a bungee strap over the radio which holds it firm if it's a little loose you will find quite a few to choose from for a fiver they are spot on

I had a look at various websites and the dimensions are different for the A,B,C and depending who is measuring it.

I went for a D from Amazon so I can easily return it if it's the wrong size.

My handheld is a Standard Horizon HX 400. 57 x 133 x 40 mm.

I'll post back if it fits well.

Got my MSC20D today.

My Standard Horizon HX400 fits very well in base, however, the top bungy is probably a little tight. It could probably do with being a little longer but I prefer it tight rather than loose. VHF is 57 x 133 x 40 mm.

Mine woo tight as well but I found loosening the elastic knot and moving it back as far as possible to its tails and retightening did the trick.

If you search the holster name on Google images across several sites you will find dimensions of all the variants.
