motor size for 3.2 m boat

hi guys im new to this forum. I just got myself a 3,2m rib boat with plywood floor. i want to use it for dam and sea. mostly in mozambique. we used to go out with my fathers cat but since i dont nlive with them anymore i wanted something smaller to handle with more ease. the boat can handle a motor up to 15hp

spoke to a guy today and he said its way to small for going out in the ocean. i like to differ. im looking at a 10hp motor. what do you guys think?

Thanks
Johandre

Hi mate. One of my boats is an Avon Typhoon, its 3.4m and is an aluminium decked SIB
.Its plated to take upto 25hp but i have a Honda 10hp with hydro foils fitted, it easily gets on the plane with one person on board. Two persons and its not quite enough to get on the plane. I would imagine with yours being a RIB, 15 hp would probably be comparable to mine, myself i would think 10hp wouldnt quite be enough.
Hope this helps, and welcome to the forum! Darren
