Hey, the old purple Vagabond with the Cozzie lump that never ran. I've not seen that boat in years. It was put together during the last months of Vector Marine.

Those Vector ribs and the current Osprey hulls share a bit of history.

Who are you then?

never ran ?

had boat at least 10 years now
took 2 years to hit water
spent 2 years melting pistons and other parts
got engine running sweet got up to 45 knots
had lots of time on the water though some good some bad some very scarry
boats wicked in the rough
been to sillys in it
then started ripping teeth from sterndrive legs
on the third leg know hopefully this might last bit longer
had a couple of years of for other comitments
just finishing knew trailer
fitted larger intercooler this years
fitted second hand volvo e drive looks like superspeedmaster very thin gearbox and runs close to surface has twin pinnions in gearbox hopefully stronger

Yeah, that leg might do a bit better. The standard Volvo Penta leg was never gonna stick it. The problem with that rig always was that the Cozzie lump is too small capacity. It only produces its power through a narrow rev range which is not much use on a boat as it has no gears. That's why inboard boat engines usually have big capacity and lots of torque. The Cozzie could be shock loading the transmission when the turbo spins up and trying to power it up in big sea must be hardwork. I wouldn't mind a run in it if it is going. Where is the boat now?

She's about 15 years old I reckon.

should be ready in next 4-6 weeks
running about 300 hp in current set up power is from 2200rpm -7000rpm
so power band is fairly wide but power below that is kack
prop selection is critical and generally needs bit off hacking up to get just right
ps didnt realize if been doing the boat that long i still see damian about

Ah, I didn't remember it being a hardnose. If it's an xr24 it is essentially what became the Osprey Viper hull.

Were you involved with it when it came out of Vector Marine?

Yeah, the Vector Vulcan hardboats were mainly used for smuggling in Gib, it was good business for Vector. A friend of mine whom you might of known, was out there flogging the smugglers hulls and engines to replace the ones that were grabbed by customs.
Vector were in trouble around then and everything was being flogged off. Alastair Heane was up there fannying about about that time.

Around the 50knt mark, have a run in it sometime and see what you think. The Etec is an awesome engine.
