Places like Lumb brothers usually sell this sort of thing but if its for diving from a RIB I would buy shot belts. The amount of damage a solid weight does banging around the boat is horrendous, I have banned them from mine and only allow shot belts on now.

You often get 'em fleabay too, none right now tho..

My old club had a beautiful 4lb closed mould - all curves and suchlike. I got a bit carried away with a pile of lead I pinched from work. I have 36 x 4lbs and 8 x 2lbs in me shed. I'm a sad case

I did the same, thought I may as well make a few whilst I'm at it. Last time I looked the pile had gone down, think my Dad had recycled them into sinkers and pirks!

Beat me to it, DHD . Although, I'd make a good Presbyterian Minister*. I might even end up as the Moderator. But anyways, the lead did come off the roof. BTW, I was very careful in respect to lead fumes, my issues began long before that.

As Chewy can confirm, nothing feeds an OCD like a increasing pile (sorry, orderly line) of gleaming silver weights and a decreasing pile of tatty chaos (sorry, scrap lead).

No room up the front for a crate. The problem isn't when they are in the boat but when they are being donned or dropped into the boat after surfacing.
My console on the old RIB was heavily scarred from carelessly dropped solid weight belts and the new one has a nice big scape across the front and side of the outboard casing from someone swinging their belt round to put in on.
This was the last straw and I banned solid weights from the RIB.
If folk aren't going to excercise some care with what they do with kit they they aren't coming on. I am not particularly precious about the boat but I think a minimum of care is called for if you are a guest on a boat.
Shot belts don't really cause any damage so no shot belt=no ride on the RIB.

Nope, everyone uses twinsets which lie flat on the deck plus we never go out with more than four divers, half the number that the equivalent club boat would take for the same size hull.

I don't dive anymore so don't have much experince of twinsets but don't these cause damage.
I suspect techie divers take more care over their gear hence not as much damage?

Nope, lie them flat on the deck behind the console and they are fine, two sets lie fine between the tubes with two in front. The bladders and boots stop anything being damaged.
You can see two sets on my old RIB, it could take four sets between the outboard and the console....
