Military RIB

I am trying to identify the manufacturer of a RIB .It is ex military and was used for drop trials in the U.K from a C-130. She has a helm -two positions behind for people to stand and six seats . I will try and post a picture but I am struggling -any ideas?

Almost certainly Halmatic, now part of the Vosper Thorneycroft Group. Do a search on here for "Hercules" and there are some posts ref dropping perfectly serviceable ribs out of air planes

Yes, the P22 boats were used among others. The main one that was used had a big lifting frame infront / on top of engine cover, both MK1 & 2. I know this because i was looking at a couple in Halmatic last week. The bow was strengthened they told me. not good news for stowaways!

That looks like a Halmatic console and deck but I can’t see enough of the hull to know which one.
What is the transparent egg on the right hand side of the bottom photo Des

Selling a Rib

The RIB pictured in this thread is now available to raise funds for the museum's projects . Where is the best place to advertise a RIB like this when it's an unknown commodity!

Rogue wave - thanks for the advice ! The uncertainty is because we don't really know what it is and want it to go for a reasonable sum to someone who can use it! Can anyone solve what the mystery perspex object is for on the rear deck ?

It looks like a Big Artic I don't think its a Pacific as I can't see an engine housing.

can you post a picture of the hull front on and the stern (transom). If the boat was used for drop tests is the perspex dome possibly a housing for the shockerometer measuring kit

Military Rib

Hi,

You may be thinking about the big Zodiac. 200hp Yanmar I think. I met a chap at the Folly last summer who has one. He was a Pacific owner and he was looking fondly at Sharkie (who is slightly modified - twin jockey seats and double console).
He told me that he wanted something faster. The Zodiac goes twice as fast as the Pac and consumes twice as much fuel.

Sharkie goes back into service this week (all being well) after some work on the sterndrive.

BTW, I was given a pdf file of the Sternpower Sterndrive and I printed a copy off. Sadly it is very grubby now and I cannot find the pdf to reprint.
Anyone out there got a copy please??

Steve

The RAF have been using Ribcrafts for some time now as search and rescue boats.
