MGA Watersports CLOSED

It was with great sadness that I learnt today that MGA watersports has closed. Shaun always gave me service beyond that, that I could have expected. A great loss to the northern ribbing world

Very sad news indeed, this place introduced us to boating, from the first bombard aerotec to a zodiac pro nine man, very good people to deal with...... anyone know why they have closed? whats happened to them?

MGA closed back in July. Shaun said that it was just too much work. He's looking for a change.

See http://rib.net/forum/showthread.php?t=15095 for more info!

Hi Mike
we have been looking at the service implications as well now that Shaun is not there.
If you look at the suzi website there is nichol end marine on derwentwater who can service all sizes of suzi but when I phoned them they dont usually work on our size of engine so needed to know when it was coming to order in the bits. Nichol End is a nightmare to get into with a boat in tow in summer after about 10am but have always been really nice people to deal with when we have been there. There is now also one at Skipton who seems to have just taken the suzuki agency although I could be wrong. I have spoken with them on the phone. Same thing -need to know serial number to make sure thay have all bits in in case something needs swopping. I think it will be going to Skipton just cos its gotta be easier than getting down Nichol End's driveway with all the cars parked there! Needs doing soon (well overdue now really) so I'll let ya know how we get on.

RIBase
Send a message via Skype™ to CJL
There is a place in Galgate near Lancaster that is a very good merc and honda dealer. Not sure if he does Suzuki's though.

Its in an old mill building and called Martin Yates. Their number is +44 (0)1524 751750. http://www.my-marine.co.uk/index.htm

They have been very good when I've sent my boat i there.

No Martin Yates are not suzuki agents unfortunately. Would have no hesitation in going there if they were, but need to go somewhere tooled up for Suzuki and to keep warranty.

I think the IoM is less than 50 miles west of Blackpool (don't have my chart handy to check....) You could combine a short break in the delightful island with a service at Yachthaven Marine......

isn't it time that suzuki got it's act together
and appointed another dealer/service center
in lancashire.

Who would take it on? I understand that one of the reasons Shaun gave it up was Suzuki shafting it's own dealers (excuse the pun) ie the dealer gives all the service to prospective customers, who then find the same kit on the internet direct from Suzuki at the same price the dealers pay for it !!!!!!!!! what is the point?

point taken fred

maybe it's about time to ask out-board manufacturers
some searching questions about after sales service
before we part with the equivalent cost of a small
family car for one of their shiny new engines
