Indeed the way of measuring the boats is a bit 'strange', it is in fact the same you have with joker boats (and once very late in some pub i remember but vaguely somebody was explaining that the molds from marshall are in fact ex joker molds, but havent had that verified by anybody).
We use at our yachtclub a M10 and are still happy with it, although the tube quality is not really great compared to the 2 jokers MOB's we purchased a few years later (might also be the development of hypalon in the years in between) .
