that boat has been forsale for sometime, i think it may have possibly been used for some sort of buisness. Recently come down in value.

My mate has an sr8, and another friend used to race one of the original non pascoe ones and its a mixed bag really,

firstly the tubes are very low so you sit ontop of boat not in it, also that hull is renouned for being a bit of a bitch in a following sea and with low tubes if you were after a serious offshore boat you would be looking at the wrong thing.

The build is very good, the console and seats are outhills and ok,
its a long and thin boat with amazing head sea ability, we have creamed across red jets wash head on four up at almost top speed (mates does 71mph) and the way these boats lift and lands is nothing short of amazing, no nose dives no head in the air just perfectly level and balanced, it recovers from chining in confused seas very well too. But its really an out and out race boat, can be tetchy on corners too although my mate creams his round like its on rails its scares the s**t outa me as they can barrell roll (not a ski boat for sure) I think pascoe used to offer driving lessons with the new boats so people could learn to respect em! not a 1st boat no doubt

yes the sr8 i believe is v24 hull bigger more agressive steps than sr7 and sr9 and the sr8 beam is similar to sr7 also, ita a fast and very good boat but not a novice drive

RIBase
Sr8

Hi,

I don't have any first hand experience of the SR8 but have heard rumour of one developing cracks in the underside in the step areas - so that would be one area to look at closely.

Also, have a chat with your insurance broker to see what the cost / availability of insurance will be. Many insurers won't insure boats that do more than 50 knots and as this is your first RIB those that do may be reluctant.

With your requirements perhaps something a little more mainstream such as a Ribcraft / Ribtec might be better? Or a Ballistic if you really need a sunpad?

Regards
