No dealings but I remember some other reporting similar issues with this company. Worth a search.

If you type their name into google there's quite a few negative reviews about customer service.

If you paid by card then you should be able to get full refund.

If you get no joy this week I'll pop round for you and see what's what

Ordered 5 items from MMS several years ago. Received 2 items after 3 days, another 2 items 10 days later and the final item a week after that.

Going by the amount of items they list, it is unlikely much is stocked on site, and the hamble office certainly isn't big enough to be called a warehouse. I expect orders are placed with suppliers for each consumer order, so lead times are way beyond their control, especially at this time of year.

From memory, all their online chat hosts are called James and there were loads of poor reviews at the time, but things seemed to get sorted eventually.

Never again

Would never use again. Ever.

Bought a flare pack from them for delivery to UK mainland, but they sent them by normal courier loose in a box.

Arrived ripped and damaged with no warnings on the outside, even though they charged me extra postage for carriage of dangerous goods.

As I got no joy from the firm (I didn't want to rely on flares that had been handled like that), I claimed a refund from my credit card.

I also reported the incident to their courier who froze their account and in-transit goods for breach of Health and Safety.

In the end one of the managers came to collect them personally. I also reported them to the HSE who I understand paid them a visit too...

Apparently, it was a one-off mistake.....

I hope you paid by credit card - if you did, I'd get onto them.

Good luck

For general chandlery I use Chris Legg at Kildale Marine in Hull. Good prices, not always the cheapest but close enough, but the service is second to non. Proper family run company, very knowledgeable & friendly, you don't pay until goods are dispatched. For my engine bits I swear by Mike Vincent at South Coast Marine in Christchurch, same again, good prices & reliable service.

I've been to their hamble office, never anyone there. That's a waste of time too.

Get a refund on your card, that's what I had to do.

This was several years ago, I really can't believe they are still in business.

From the dealings I've had with them I understand they are effectively a drop-ship organisation.

We order stuff believing them to be in stock, then they arrange their suppliers to ship direct, which is why when you order several things they can arrive in different packages at different times.
If their supplier is out of stock or doesn't dispatch quickly we improve their cashflow for a few additional days on top of their normal terms.
Assuming of course their supplier is still shipping against their account because they are up to date with their invoices

Done well it works effectively, but takes good supplier agreements and exceptional organisation, none of which would appear to apply to MMS.

The Marine Superstore on the other hand are excellent.

Nasher.

I put something up on this before. They were shocking when I ordered from them and as someone else said it beggars belief that are still trading.
