Lymington Slip

Towed the Ossy to Lymington slip today, only to find the pontoon is missing Completely buggered my single handed launch Having now looked on the web site I see that it is supposed to be missing just this one week-end!
If you are intending to launch there next week-end I would check whether the works have been completed first.

Steve,
From the web site,
"LYMINGTON HARBOUR COMMISSIONERS

LOCAL NOTICE TO MARINERS

NO. 2 OF 2010

HARBOUR WORKS
Replacement of Harbour Masters/LTSC Pontoon

Works to replace the existing Harbour Masters/LTSC pontoon will commence from Thursday 4th March and are expected to be completed by Friday 12th March. A piling barge will be in operation over this period. Please note that part of these works will involve pontoon sections being towed in the river and this is currently scheduled to take place on Thursday 11th, Friday 12th March and Tuesday/Wednesday 15th/16th March.

Barge name: Walcon Wizard
VHF listening watch: Channels 12, 16 and 68.

Please take appropriate care when navigating in this area and when passing vessels towing the pontoon sections and operate at a speed commensurate with keeping wash levels low.

During this period there will be no walk ashore landing facilities from this area. Alternative landing facilities are provided at Town Quay and, by prior arrangement, the Dan Bran pontoon. Persons who wish to use the Dan Bran pontoon will need to contact the harbour office during office hours for the code to the security gate."
So looks to me that the pontoon will be available for use as before once the works are complete. I guess you can ring the harbour office if you are concerned.

It's back!! Or to be more correct, the new one is in place, apparently
BUT only in use during daylight hours, as there are no lights working at the moment.
Strange, I don't remember lights on the old one
