RIBase
Loss of courage

I was out in my rib last week for the first time in a very very long time ( small childrem make for the best anchors). What I have noticed is that my courage/ confidence on the water was greatly reduced. It returned slowly during my Holidays. I am wondering if this suitation has happened to other ribsers

I find the same and just put it down to natures way of stopping you/us doing something stupid ?

As the 'feeling' returns you regain the skill/ courage or judgement to do more . I think this is why somelike Cookee can do 100mph without too much stress , where as I have really really focus at anything above 40 as I dont do it very often at all !

I feel it most over the winter when I may not drive about for weeks at a time ..

Good news is the courage did/does return

Hi Mick,

It's important for for folks who may have been off the water for a few months or a year or so to gently ease themselves back to boating and stay safely within their comfort zone for the first few trips of the season to let it all come back to you!

Don't worry, we've all been there!

Kind regards,

Stuart
