Anyone who lives in or around Portsmouth will instantly recognise those local dialect versions of the words.

An Anckner is like a parking break, but for boats. Invented in 1664 by Eric Woolfgang Anckner in Switzerland, he tested his designs on boats on Lake Geneva where he received a patent and a free clock.

'Both the boat and engine has had very little usage' - surprising for an ex charter boat!

It didn't mention the make of the Rib in the listing (well I didn't see it) so I googled '7m rib with 225hp johnson'
Brought me straight to Ribnet and Tim's boat

i asked the seller earlier how many hours and was it used commercially with that seat configeration and this was the reply.

Quote:
dont know the exact hours, but in the last two seasons it as done approximatly 50 - 60 hours. the season before it was in storage and not used. prior to that it may well have been a charter boat.

I see it failed to meet a reserve first time around at £12,601.00, it is back on and shows 8700 and a buy it now price at 15995, how they can say little use in last two seasons when it was only sold from being a charter RIB end of last year if I recall.

It's interesting. I also emailed the seller and got a load of rubbish as a reply. As we all know it is an ex charter boat. The engine has done around 1000 hours. It lived on the water for the three years I owed it, and I know the chap that bought it from me kept it on a mooring. He claims he has been using it for the last year and it was in storage for the year before that. Interesting as I only sold it last year! I'm pleasantly surprised to see it's still in one piece; the clueless chap that bought it off me (not this chap I might ad) told me when he came to sea trial it that he had written the last one off by driving it into some rocks after a drink too many! That boat doesn't offer a particularly great ride if there's only a couple of you in it. This was the only boat Solent ever made with the console at the back. It doesn't work well - there is far too much weight at the back which means the bow rides very high unless you've got a few bodies up front to keep it down. As a result the ride is very slammy as the bow is almost always in the air.

Always interesting knowing the full story on something and listening to someone else's version of it

1000hrs are nothing when compared to the Starship Enterprise.
