Looks like another winner from Ribcraft

Got a look at the new 5m at the factory yesterday, not officially launched yet,but looks a fantastic little boat with the sea keeping features of much larger craft. And by all accounts has exceeded thier own high expectations in sea trials.
Sure to be another winner!...A little bird told me you may be seeing a build thread on here soon, which WILL be interesting!

IMO. Looks a very nice balanced Rib,the points I noticed, that firstly it has a very nice high sheer,[unusual in a boat of this lengh] the deck has been lowered somewhat [from the '4.8'design]and this coupled with an increase in tube diameter, and built in fuel tank [on the version I saw],gives an overall 'big boat' look. One in which the driver is sat 'IN',rather than 'ON' the Rib,which can often be the case with smaller Ribs.Good deep 'V' as you'd expect from a Ribcraft, with the usual high strength build quality we've come to expect.Coupled with a lightwieght 60 or 70hp should be great fun,and keep the running costs down.

new Ribcraft 5.0

It looks awesome!! i dont know why anybody would want to buy another manufacturer of Rib!,its an entirely new design hull (not copied from their current range) with all the attributes of a serious rough water craft, when at rest the tubes stand clear of the water, also with the substationally raised bow section would make it incredible in rough conditions, especially in a following sea, As Maximus has said, you sit in rather than on,
Its a small craft with a feel of a much larger boat, I'm going to stick me neck out here and say i really do think the 5.4 searider has met its match with this latest offering from the boys at Ribcraft.

and no i dont work for them!!!

i want i want i want,

Matt - I have nothing against Ribcraft - but I just can't believe that ANY one manufacturer can consistently be so much better than all the others that the competition are dismissed like that. Ribcraft have a loyal following and their sales and marketing people must love it - as it allows them to charge a premium (by the way I think similar effects take place with Scorpion, Redbay etc too).

The new boat does look good though - and I would think will appeal to the sailing club rescue craft market amongst others. Its reassuring (or perhaps an effect of the credit crunch) to see people developing boats at the smaller end of the market rather than continually getting longer.

yes but unfortunately it dilutes the credibility of the rest of the rest of your commentary on the boat... a bit like when Codprawn goes on about Landrover, you then have to treat any comment he makes about landrover with a pinch of salt

Does anyone know if this will supplement the current Ribcraft line-up or will the 4.8 (or 5.3) be dropped?

Perhaps it's a geographical thing? The 'flag-wavers' and the factory are all in rather close proximity.

I asked the same when I was over there a few days ago Dhai, and apparentley the answer is no.It is an addition to the range, and not in anyway a replacement.I must say it is good to see British Rib manufacturers [and not just Ribcraft!] investing in new 'R and D'and developeing new products, and processes to help keep this vibrant, and valued sector of British industrie to the forefront.
It has also ultimately got to be for us,the end user!

Not for me , I prefer them to be touching the water at rest for maximum stabilty see link below

I have to say, my 5.7 Valiant ticks these boxes and more, what with some in deck storage in the bow, her sea keeping has proved exceptional, and thats from a skipper whose owned a 5.8, a 6.4 and an 8.5 in the last 9 years

Last week I made a testdrive with the 5.0 fitted with a Yam 60 HP 4stroke. It was the same boat as posted in the pictures.

I have to say I was VERY impressed with the attention of details and the way this boat was build. The handling was excellent although I think the Ribcraft was a little underpowered, the bow ‘ sticks’ a little to the water.

Yeah, nice rib!
