looking to buy - Zodiac Hurricane 440

Hey All,

Been lurking and reading hear often to learn about RIBs. It's a great forum.

I presently have a 27 sailboat and want small, sea-worthy RIB for running up/down BC coast (Howe Sound and Welcome passage). I really appreciate the build quality of the Hurricane or Searider.

Found this Hurricane 440 in Oregon:
Zodaic Hurricane 440 65 HP Mercury

Does anyone know anything about this particular boat? Do you have any comments about asking price? Are there any known issues with the 440 you would be concerned about?

(I'm a newb and I know it's a shot in the dark but I thought I'd ask).

Thanks a bunch,

Barry

Hurricane 440

Hi Barry,
I just saw your post and thought I would reply as I picked up a 44o yesterday. Mine was lying for a year with the cover off so needed a bit of cleaning and sorting out. I paid £1500 but the owner was asking £2000. I think I got a bargain as long as the engine is ok. The picture was taken after half a days cleaning. Click image for larger version

The 440 is rated for a maximum of 50hp. Not sure if the bigger engine would be a problem.
It looks very fresh in the pictures, have the tubes been repainted?
There seems to be very little info online about this age of Hurricane but they certainly seem to be very well built commercial boats.
Did you buy it?
John

Hi, I've seen this boat. I would consider it a project at this point. Pm me for details.

Good hull though

Hi Columbiachop, thanks for the feedback. It's nice that someone has laid eyes on it. I'll give you a shout.

Isle, nice boat you have there! No, I didn't buy it. I'm taking my time and looking for the right boat as I've limited time to take on a significant project right now.

Cheers,

Barry
