Looking for work.

I'm new to this website, if I have posted this in the wrong section, apologies.

Hello,
In 2011 I received my RYA National Powerboat Certificate, though I have had experience with powerboats in 2010 and 2009. Since the beginning of April this year I have been a full time volunteer at a RYA Powerboat Training Centre under the supervision of a Powerboat Trainer (Who would be happy to vouch for me) and logged a considerable amount of hours in various Ribs.

I am looking for full time work which enables me to drive Rigid Inflatable Boats. My preferable location is north east England although I am willing to work almost anywhere in the united kingdom.

Thanks

Ryan.

Which powerboat cert did you do?
I think you'll need commercial endorsement too, which also needs first aid and VHS SRC.

Someone might be along shortly and correct me....

I think you'll find he needs a VHF Ticket, not VHS. Unless of course, he's just watching the Video

On a more serious note, you can be employed driving a RIB and not be required to have a Commercial Endorsement - just depends who you're driving around.

The Commercial Endorsement requires VHF (SRC), First Aid & Sea Survival plus the new online PPR Exam.

A RYA Powerboat Level 2 can be commercially endorsed allowing you to take up to 12 paying customers on a MCA Coded vessel up to 3 miles from a designated safe haven in good conditions and daylight hours.

Extract from the RYA website

How do I apply for a standard commerical endorsement

Send the following items to RYA Certification, RYA House, Ensign Way, Hamble, Hampshire SO31 4YA:
  • Your original certificate - see list above
  • Your Professional Practices and Responsibilites certificate commercial endorsement application form
  • An ML5 or ENG1 medical fitness certificate
  • A copy of your RYA Basic Sea Survival certificate or Personal Survival Techniques STCW95
  • A passport sized photo with your name on the back
  • The fee
The specific need for the VHF is as part of the requirement for the Advanced PB Certificate
