Sorry to hear of your impending job loss. Been made redundant from a few jobs in my time and is always a little worrying, especially when you have a family to support.

How about phoning Macmillan or another charity and asking if there's a fund raising managers job available, your CV would look pretty impressive.

Alex, what skills do you have?

The Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers are about to move to Lyneham from now with the main move Oct 15 from Bordon and Arborfield.

MOD publishes development plans for new Training College at Lyneham - Defence Infrastructure Organisation

Most of the instructional and admin staff live local so probably won't want to move to Lyneham. So there will be jobs going locally doing lots of engineering stuff including instructing and maintaining.

I think the new Contractor will be Babcock so worth keeping an eye on their website.

Sorry for not being about much, but thank you all so much for your posts and messages of encouragement.

It's been a very long few months, however it looks like I will be leaving work at the end of this month after 23 years and I will then be in the RIB trade full time...

I'm purchasing Biffer's Cabin Moulds so I will be able to convert RIBs and build new cabin RIBs. I will also be restoring RIBs and developing my own RIB that will hopefully be as successful as the RIBs that I have grown to love over the years.

I'm looking forward to bringing this all together and working with something that I love doing.

I have had so many offers of help from the great people on here which has been great thank you.

It's three years tomorrow since my Dad passed away from cancer so over the past three years I've come a long way on here with the help of you lot, so thank you, we've even won awards together and been to the boat show too

Here's to the future and thank you. The whole area of a RIB is probably 90% air so how hard can it be

Thanks dude,

I forgot to say that I'll be spending my first few weeks (or more) with Biffer building the huge cabin RIB

Good luck whisper.

It's a daunting time to be out of work, but it's also an opportunity. I've been at risk twice of losing my job (secretly wanting a pay-off)... but how cool is it to be working in the industry?

Good work always shines through. You've nowt to worry about.
