Looking for 6.0-6.5 m rib, thoughts

Hi,
i'm looking for a 6-6.5 m used trib for a friend. I've sort of boxed in Ribcraft, Ballistic, Ribquest and Ribeye in that range. Would much appreciate any thoughts on these vessels, what to look out for and any do's or don'ts.

Wouldn't do such a thing! The Red Bays in range of budget he finds a bit too rough and "workmanlike" though. Any tips on Humbers for sale?

If your friend is a discerning chap then he will want an Osprey Vipermax 6.5. If he is not then any of the above will do

No, I doubt this one is within budget but if it fits under 21K we have an option!

I've actually had one myself, wasn't too impressed with quality or I should say assembly. Also had a 225 Honda but she wobbled a bit so I put a 175 Suz on her instead, but I reckon the 225 was to short in the leg.

This picture was taken before the rear seets were fitted. I had a bolt pattern in the deck so that I could have either a pair of Jockey seats or a bench seat bolted.

Or leave the seats out to have loads of deck space for fishing or diving.

A lot will depend on who built it ! being that I am in the middle of refurbishing a 7.0 at the moment that looked like it had been rigged by a mental patient I can sympathise.

Thats why I would always build my own. My life in my hands as it were.

I thought the Vipermax's were only rated up to 200. How did it go with the 175 though? I've always wondered if the lighter engine would have been better than my 200.

Probably a 7 meter. They are rated up to 250.

Our 7.0 meter Hasan Honda 225 on and is an absolute peach in terms of handling.

She handeled beautiful w the 175, no wobbling and higher in the aft. Went from 51 knots to 47. I do however reckon if mounted lower it could have solved that but the rig on the engine was too short.

You may want to take a look at the Ribcraft 6.8 in the For sale section, if you'd like a Comercial spec Cat B RIB

... and in Budget too.
Incidently good to see in MBM that that Ribcraft Increased thier Commercial boat sales last year by 30%!!.. Not too Shabby in the pressent economic climate,must be doing something right

I can strongly recommend Ribeye, ive recently done a quick review on them from ordering the S650 here http://www.rib.net/forum/f8/ribeye-s...red-46067.html

The 650 is a completely different animal to the 600 so its definitely worth giving both a try and seeing which suits your needs!

Agreed, on paper, there's no contest. But reality is sometimes different as is 60kg+.

I can highly recommend Ribcraft ribs - used a 6.8 before getting my own 7.8 and the 6.8 was a cracking rib. They are extremly well built and very, very tough. People have criticised customer service at the factory but other than having to chase a few unanswered calls or emails the team have always been brilliant...
