London Boat Show

Just to say it was really nice to see all the Ribnet members I spoke to.

Sorry for those that I missed and did not get chance to speak to.

Hope all that came to the show had a good time.

Big thank you to all that supported Icom at the show.

According to Jeremy Clarkson in the times yesterday:-

"The London Boat Show is not designed for the punters but the sales staff on the stands.
It is so they can get awwy from home for a few days, stay out late, get drunk every night, only get 2 hours sleep and try to s**g the agency girls"

Edited highlights and based on his experience at Motor Shows.
Clearly has no idea about boat shows!!!

Regards

Jon

Yeah, 'cos we all know that everyone working at the boat show drinks nothing but spring water all day then has an early night with a cup of cocoa!

We all here prefer Excel as a venue, much nicer and open.
Trouble with Earls Court was that as we were up in the gods we did not see anyone for a few hours then it was a mad bun fight.
At Excel we get a steady stream of customers all day.

Down side of Excel is the night life.
I think given time we will find all the good places to go after the show.

Regards

To be fair, the fun and games are only a few minutes away on the tube but I think you are right. The only thing with excel is my feet hurt after walking around it, it must be quite a bit bigger than Earls Court.

I guess that is true.
Having been at Earls Court for so long we knew were everything was.
It will take time to find anll the good spots to eat, drink and be merry!.
Found a great Indian in Brick lane and the Chinese in the Custom House Hotel was spot on too.
We stay in Canary Wharfe, lots there but it seems to revolve around the workers there, shutting ealry in some cases.
Not good when the show open till 9pm on Thursday's.
What a no brainer that is!

Regards

Jon

Supprised you didnt shoot home rather than stay up there all the time being so close as you are, i drive up to Cannary Wharf every day and it takes just over an hour each way.

Meant to say hello but you were talking to some woman when i saw you, and cleverly ICOM had something to stop DSC trasmitting as Lord Davies and myself made it a mission to see how many we could set of at the show

It was suggested that we travel each day!
After much consideration it was clear it was better to stay.
They are long days at the show then 1-2 hours in the morning and again at night was felt to be a bit much!

Some woman? me? you will get me a bad or should I say worse name!

Yes we modified all the units to only just talk to each other.
Ofcom a very hot on this front.
Mind you if you put a bit of co-ax in any of them it was enough grunt to alarm every radio at the show!
Well so I was lead to understand, would not catch us doing anything like that!

Sorry I missed you, was she good looking?

Regards

Suppose it depends what you call good looking John ? in my opinion she was ok looking and you seemed to be having fun chatting with her.

We did try the ICOM DSC to no avail, however we did manage to set of a few others on other stalls who had not been so vigillant, i dont think i'd ever seen sales men move so fast in my life :-)
