dont get me wrong i feel bad for you/the situation you got put in. But it stopped being anything to do with you the moment you went "mate with rib meet sailing club, sailing club meet mate with rib" the greivance was between the club and your mate. thus if your mate decided to air the situation to the rib world then i would possibly have had more sympathy for the situation.

The club in question has one of the most confusing heirachys in place + the usual power strugles. the problem being that often the correct heirachy is not followed. this is usualy fine untill money has to be paid out. Then you find the paymaster never agreed to it thus isnt paying anyone else.
thinking about it it sounds alot like most sailing clubs.

anyway it was very good of you to pick up the clubs tab in the end.

I don't think the club has done anything and therefore shouldn't be named.
I'm not sure what it had to do with ribnet anyway.

How many clubs use safety boats that are not SIBS or RIBS? This is an issue that raised a number of valuable points, but above all it reminds us that as RIB owners we are likely to be approached for help running safety boat cover for a large event.

Very much a RIB.net matter. IMHO

You won't know if the club is true to their word, until you take it to a higher level.
How high have you taken it, to date?

Why don't you create your own web site, using their business name in the URL, you can then make any type of accusation you like, all undefended. You could even put it into your signature and promote your 'story', thats if your bitter enough

I don't think there is any need for that - anyone local probably has a pretty good idea who it is (afterall how many clubs organise events in that timeframe, lasting a week using that many safety boats).

For the rest of us it serves as a useful reminder that whether offering ones boat for club safety work or organising a club event needing external support that we should make sure it is explicitly clear and in writing the expenses/compensation package offered and any conditions for that. And if acting as an intermediate making sure that you are not piggy in the middle for any disputes!

Their are 2 clubs in that area that run multiple international events through the summer and the problem is he isnt talking about the club closest to him so very easy to be a case of mistaken identity on that one. partly why i Imediatly took a disliking to this thread.

Probably, but not because of this thread. The club in question has its initials mentioned in an earlier post. Google them, then you'll know who and where.
