That's a very nice thing they're doing... but....

They just want a lend of someone's RIB?

Who'll drive?
Who'll pay for any damage?
Who'll replace parts etc.?

Nauti Bouy - Any chance of a lend of your RIB for the weekend? I'll be nice with it I promise

I would rather borrow a Crompton - have a special job lined up for it - will replace any missing engines - honest!!!

Think it does sound a bit odd, if they have sponsors, and its on tv, done it a few times before etc, why not the last rib they used? Or a main dealer lend them one for all the `coverage` they`ll get? Or did they break the last boat?

their reason for wanting a different rib seems to be in part availability of petrol... ...but they claim to have an excellent "land support team".

Whilst it is obviously in the interests of a good cause, it sounds to me as though there will be some pleasure involved in the trip I wouldn't have thought it would be out of the question to charter a rib for 2 weeks.. They have free accomodation (sleeping in fire stations on way round) and a reasonable number of people participating - split between them, and with the saving in cost of using red diesel v's petrol it sounds like it could be value for money for some fun.

Just seems like the Fire Brigade are always pulling some sort of Charity stunt. If they are doing it in there own time then that's fair enough.

Do you think me and a couple of mates could get someone to provide us with a large Limousine in aid of charity to drive round all the capitals in the EU. Promise I won't enjoy myself too much.

Wouldn't the more Eco friendly and sensible thing thing to do be to run a marathon round their local town.

Lets face it, its not exactly hard to drive a big RIB round the UK, it just costs a lot of money and time.
